Milton’s agro-processing company

Milton’s company which is located in western Uganda, specializes in the production of maize flour and maize bran. Established in 2011, the company has played a vital role in supporting the local economy by working closely with smallholder farmers as well as providing employment to the youth and the women.

In June 2023, Mango Fund partnered with Milton to facilitate further growth by providing the company with its first investment to acquire a sourcing and delivery truck. The truck acquisition created an immediate impact on the business by supporting its rapid growth as they were able to reach a wider clientele base across the region. Faced with another challenge of drying their grain due to unpredictable weather patterns as well as the need to comply with quality standards set by the regulator (Uganda National Bureau of Standards – UNBS), pushed Milton the need to purchase a seed grain dryer and Mango Fund yet again provided the business with further financing to acquire the equipment. Previously, they were drying their grain manually by spreading on tarpaulin’s under the sun for a period of 2 – 3 days. This would not only compromise on the moisture content but would delay his production cycle failing them to meet the customer needs in time.  These two investments have greatly boosted Milton’s production efficiency and supported good growth.
