Pheona’s Agro-processing firm
Pheona is a dedicated woman entrepreneur and the brain behind an agro-processing business in Eastern Uganda that was established in 2008. Her business specializes in sourcing, cleaning, processing, and distribution of maize, groundnuts, and rice. Additionally, she is contracted by Agro Ways Ltd as one of the largest suppliers of sorghum in the Eastern region of Uganda.
In executing and deliberating on her day-to-day operations, Pheona works with a number of small holder farmers who supply her with grain for her business operations.
Before Mango Fund Investment the client didn’t have reliable means of transport to help and ease the sourcing of more grain (maize, groundnuts and rice) from the small holder farmers who are located deep in the rural areas and also ease the distribution of the finished products to the market. The client used to hire trucks which proved to be unreliable and inefficient. To overcome this challenge, the company in 2024 approached Mango Fund seeking for a loan to enable them acquire a new 20-ton truck to address the above-mentioned challenges.
This investment was done in 2024 and has greatly boosted the business by reducing on the cost of hiring trucks, improved the business revenue margins and productivity level enabling Pheona meet the expectations of her customers by ensuring timely deliveries of her finished products.
